Providing Notice of Copyright Violations Pursuant to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)

Case Studies in Strategic Communication (CSSC) will respond to allegations of copyright violations on its website pursuant to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 USC 512, according to the procedures fully described in the University of Southern California’s DMCA compliance policy.

A copyright owner, or person acting for the owner, must provide the University’s designated agent, the Chief Information Officer ([email protected]), with written notice that information residing on the University’s computer systems or networks is an infringement of the copyright. This notice must meet the requirements of 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3). The notice requirement also applies to information in system cache and to information location tools (e.g., hypertext links) that infringe copyright.
